Quoins Organic Vineyard launches QR code initiative

17 August 2026 Member News

Marque member Quoins Organic Vineyard aims to help local walkers learn more about what’s going on in the farm using QR codes on stiles and gates.

Alan Chubb, the owner of Quoins, first came across the idea after a group of farmers in Greensand Country in Bedfordshire installed QR codes on stiles across public footpaths in their land. The QR codes helped ramblers to find out what was being grown in the fields, how farmers were protecting local wildlife, and sharing more information about local history.

Since then, Alan has added QR codes to his own vineyard which link back to the Quoins website. These inform passersby what he’s been doing in the vineyard that week and what wildlife is in and around the vineyard. These short messages are updated frequently on the Quoins blog, so there’s likely to be new news every time you walk by!

Following the success of the initiative on his own vineyard, Alan is calling on farmers in the region to join in and post their own updates where public footpaths intersect with their fields, giving the general public more information on routine farming practices, while also providing an opportunity to link to their own websites and shops.
